There’s a lot you can do

Even if you want to understand them better or support them to get their gambling under control, don’t put your financial and physical safety at risk. GambleAware is for you, too.

How can I help myself?

You could start off by talking to family and friends. But GambleAware counsellors are trained to share practical strategies based on research.

How can I keep myself and my family safe?

If you feel threatened or unsafe due to a person’s gambling, or you’re concerned about the welfare of your family or children, support is available.

How can I protect my finances?

It’s a sensitive issue. We have some tips, but it’s a smart idea to talk to a financial counsellor about the best way to approach money issues.

Can I have someone banned?

In NSW, you can apply to have a loved one with a gambling problem banned from the casino, but not from pubs and clubs. What else can you do?
