Office of Responsible Gambling Strategic Plan Launch

The NSW Government launched its vision to prevent and reduce gambling harms in the community as part of Responsible Gambling Awareness Week.

The Minister for Racing Paul Toole was joined by community, government and industry groups to unveil the Office of Responsible Gambling’s first Strategic Plan. John Dalzell, Chair of the Responsible Gambling Fund and Paul Newson, Deputy Secretary, Liquor Gaming & Racing also spoke at the event.

The plan has been developed with input from the newly reconstituted Responsible Gambling Fund Trust. The nine trustees are well recognised leaders in their respective fields in health, law, government, academia, business and social research.

The event also marked Responsible Gambling Awareness Week which ran from 8-14 October. The theme for this year was ‘Check In’. People were encouraged to check in on their own gambling or to start a conversation with family and friends.

An online tool gambling check-in tool was also launched during the week. The tool gives those who gamble and their loved ones tips on how to gamble responsibly or seek help if they need it.
